Our Network: Membership and Affiliation

The Forum for Women Vice Chancellors in Africa (FAWoVC) is a diverse and inclusive ecosystem. We offer various categories of membership designed to foster leadership, advocacy, and strategic support across the continent’s higher education landscape

Membership Categories

1. Founding Members

The visionaries who signed the official Declaration of Formation of FAWoVC on August 24, 2016. These leaders laid the cornerstone for our mission of gender equality in African academia.

2. Full Members

Reserved for substantive and former female Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Presidents of accredited or chartered universities across Africa. Full members form the core leadership and strategic voice of the Forum.

3. Associate Members

We welcome a broader range of leaders to contribute to our mission through Associate membership:
Female Leadership: Deputy Vice Chancellors, Vice Rectors, and Principals of Colleges within accredited/chartered universities.
Male Allies: Male Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Presidents of accredited/chartered universities who champion our cause.
Emerging Institutions: Female Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Presidents of universities operating with Provisional Licenses or Letters of Interim Authority.

4. Honorary Members

Membership is conferred upon distinguished individuals who have demonstrated exceptional support and advocacy for FAWoVC, making outstanding contributions to the growth and impact of the organization.

5. Observer Status

Institutions or individuals who do not fall into the above categories but share our vision may be granted Observer Status. This allows them to attend FAWoVC meetings and engage with our network on a consultative basis..
